Our Startup Challenges

Home platform experience: our Livebox is yours
What is the Startup Challenge's context?
prplOS is an open-source OS for Fiber and Fixed Wireless Access gateways, enabling rapid service development on a standardized platform. Many manufacturers, including Orange’s Livebox, are adopting it, creating a unified path for innovators to build native, scalable services. Orange is expanding prplOS as the main software for its gateways across France, Europe, and the MEA region. Its flexible “containers” allow third-party apps, fostering innovation with benefits like low latency, local data processing, privacy, and reliability, driving seamless ecosystem integration.
What are we looking for?
We seek innovative startups developing new services for the Livebox prpl OS. Solutions can be local, standalone, or hybrid, with some functions on the gateway and others on the cloud, accessible via smartphone or web. Focus areas include connectivity, IoT, security, safety, privacy, entertainment, content streaming, elderly care, network improvements, and customer support. The goal is to enhance broadband experiences for consumers and SOHO markets, demonstrating the value of on-device or hybrid execution, with an emphasis on user-friendly interfaces and innovative use cases.

Cybersecurity & quantum
What is the Startup Challenge's context?
Orange, a leader in secure networks, employs over 4,000 cyber experts to ensure compliance, protection, and response. Integrating AI adds value but also expands the attack surface, including data, prompts, models, and agents. To secure AI adoption, Orange needs advanced real-time monitoring and penetration testing. As a multinational, it also faces the challenge of transitioning to post-quantum cryptography, requiring all solutions to meet next-generation security standards by 2035 across diverse regions and complex systems.
What are we looking for?
Orange has established strategic partnerships and seeks solutions to accelerate AI and PQC adoption with minimal disruption. We aim for secure governance of AI and agents, AI-assisted penetration testing, automated cryptographic discovery and inventory with monitoring, and cryptographic agility for seamless algorithm updates. Solutions must use standardized algorithms and protocols (IETF, 3GPP, ETSI, ISO/IEC) for interoperability, security, and compliance. Preference is given to European applicants for cryptographic inventory solutions.
